Verification is a process where the school confirms the data reported on FAFSA. It is a process of ensuring that students are correctly reporting their information on FAFSA. A possible reason a student may have been selected for verification is there were discrepancies (i.e. income or tax information) or mismatched data (i.e. name, SSN, DOB, etc.) found with the information provided on FAFSA. Therefore the college is required verify and correct the information, based off the documentation submitted to clear up the discrepancy, so you may accurately be packaged and awarded.
